This week many of us will sit down at the table with friends and family for a day of celebration, reflection, and relaxation (and football).  I won’t regale you with stale complaints about how the meaning of Thanksgiving has changed, how Black Friday and the rise of retail have spoiled the spirit of the season, how advertisements for sales have ruined our collective consciousness – I would rather focus on the true meaning of the season, on what we have to be thankful for.

This year the team here at TMI AutoTech have plenty to be appreciative of, and that starts with the customers and clients that have been integral in the growth of our business over the past seven years.  Every division within TMI AutoTech has grown, from fabrication to motorsports services to manufacturing, and – something I am particularly thankful for – we have added a new sales division.  And the one thing that all of us here at TMI AutoTech are especially thankful for is the completion of development on our first home-grown model, the Atom 3S.

As we continue to grow and transform we look forward to and are thankful for the opportunities given to us through the loyalty of our clients.  In order to reward this loyalty and to add some new names to the list of happy Atom owners we are offering a $2,500 option credit for all orders received from Friday, November 28th through Wednesday, December 3rd.  To take advantage of this credit, just send an email with the subject line “Option Credit Order” to David in our Vehicle Sales Department at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and he will follow up with you to confirm your order and option choices.

Looking for a place to race? Looking for competitive spec racing? Great – this is the position we were in 4 years ago; our solution was to start the Spec:RaceAtom series presented by Honda Racing/HPD.

Up until 2011 there was no race series designed specifically for the Atom….and with TMI AutoTech being located at Virginia International Raceway, and run by a group of racers it was a natural progression to make this a reality. In December of 2010 we released the details for the series, as well as the new car designed with safety and reliability in mind. The Spec:RaceAtom (or SRA for short) car was born!

Fast forward to June of 2011 and the first green flag was thrown on the Spec:RaceAtom series; the first Atom racing series in the world. 13 cars took the green flag that day on the South Course at VIR….and we have not looked back since with more cars, and faster lap times!

Races have been taken place steadily over the past 4 years with the VIR Cup contesting 10 races annually at VIR, the Winter Series providing 6 races annually at Spring Mountain Motorsport Ranch in Las Vegas, and most recently the series has been invited to run exhibition races with the SCCA at both Barber Motorsport Park and Road Atlanta for the American Road Race of Champions.

The final race of the 2014 VIR Cup takes place next Saturday and Sunday – this will close out the 4th successful season for the Series. The racing action continues to get closer and closer…..with competition at all positions throughout the grid. Racers come from a broad background with different goals as they take to the track…..but the common theme is that they enjoy the performance and reliability of the Atom, in addition to the off track camaraderie. Currently there are close to 70 SRA cars delivered to clients across the country – if you are looking for a track car…have a look. Many SRA owners compete in the racing events as well as numerous HPDE events throughout the year.

Thank you to all the racers, sponsors, and helpers who have made Atom racing a reality. Look for the final championship results next week….and the 2015 schedule to be released shortly.

Let’s be honest, if you’ve spent any amount of time around the track, (or a car in general), you know that parts wear out, things break, and occasionally we may take a corner too fast and trot off the track like we just became involved in a rally cross event. Bottom line……cars get abused and need maintenance and repair.

This is why TMI AutoTech, Inc. has developed a unique trackside presence at Virginia International Raceway. By offering a1sx2_Thumbnail1_Jesse-Springs-Audi.jpgmaintenance, repair, component installation, chassis set up, and many other services on location; you can spend more time racing and less time worrying about something breaking on your car. Among the many services offered, we can also help you get your vehicle race ready during the off season. We have experience in many different racing arenas so no matter what series you want to compete in, we can help you get your car ready for the track. So let me introduce you to our Motorsports Service Manager.

Jesse Kenealy – As the Motorsports Service Manager, Jesse handles all aspects of service and maintenance for the Ariel Atoms here at TMI as well as performing the maintenance, component installation, and repairs of track day cars as well as clients personal vehicles. The favorite part of the job for Jesse is just being involved in motorsports and having the opportunity to work on the variety of cars that come through the shop.

So hopefully now you know we are here to help keep you on the track and have a pretty good idea of what we can do for you. From complex roll cage installation to a simple brake install, our Motorsports Services Division can handle it. If you have a car you want to make track ready we are glad to take on new projects, so give us a call at 434.822.9130 and let us help you get your vehicle on the track and keep it there. If you are reading this you likely already agree with me that cars are more than just a form of transportation….I also believe that cars are also more than an outlet for an adrenaline rush during performance driving events. Driving at the limit is a great joy of mine….and I imagine yours too…..but I took a step back this past week during a track event and saw that cars, and performance driving, bring people together.

A track day brings drivers from all walks of life together…..and the paddock becomes a place to relax and talk about cars, the proper line, and what tire pressure works best. This past week I met people in the paddock that I had not seen in 7 years and picked right back up where we left off…..which was likely talking about minimum apex speeds – or something exciting like that.

This particular track day, at Virginia International Raceway, saw numerous Atoms lapping which was great to see…but it was also great to see how many new drivers were out for the first time on the track – maybe they will be future Atom owners J.

If you are looking for your next hobby and have not taken to the track yet I strongly suggest you do so – you won’t regret it. There are track days happening across the country on a weekly basis – Just get out and drive! If you want to discuss an Atom to do so with….I am happy to chat.

In the meantime – we are headed to Road Atlanta this weekend for an exhibition race with the Spec:Race Atom series. Keep an eye on the results page, as well as our facebook page for updates from the track.
