Each person will look at a situation differently which is what makes the world a great place; having a conversation with someone who agrees with you on 100% of your points quickly becomes dull.

With that said – "most" people when they are talking about sports cars instantly hone in on the same items such as power, performance, handling.....generally....how fast is this car going to go! All worthy conversation points that we have all shared a pint, or two, discussing.

The other night I was the last one at the office and took some time to walk through the shop and it became pretty apparent that even before we get to performance numbers there are details that make it all happen. I walked into the fabrication shop and there were numerous small parts being welded into a larger component – in this case it was an upright assembly – but it could have been anything – my point is that the care in the details of this starting point rarely comes up in "car talk". The combination of these details, and the care that each person puts into the fabrication allows us to have the, sometimes over embellished, conversations that are usually centered on overall performance. Next conversation you have with friends about cars toss in facts about the small details that matter and see where the conversation heads!

I will leave you this week with another unique look into automotive culture – check out this video from an Atom owner who talks about what it is like to own an Atom.....not strictly about how fast it is. (Although we are pretty sure he also likes to make it goes fast at the track!)

Looking for a place to race? Looking for competitive spec racing? Great – this is the position we were in 4 years ago; our solution was to start the Spec:RaceAtom series presented by Honda Racing/HPD.

Up until 2011 there was no race series designed specifically for the Atom….and with TMI AutoTech being located at Virginia International Raceway, and run by a group of racers it was a natural progression to make this a reality. In December of 2010 we released the details for the series, as well as the new car designed with safety and reliability in mind. The Spec:RaceAtom (or SRA for short) car was born!

Fast forward to June of 2011 and the first green flag was thrown on the Spec:RaceAtom series; the first Atom racing series in the world. 13 cars took the green flag that day on the South Course at VIR….and we have not looked back since with more cars, and faster lap times!

Races have been taken place steadily over the past 4 years with the VIR Cup contesting 10 races annually at VIR, the Winter Series providing 6 races annually at Spring Mountain Motorsport Ranch in Las Vegas, and most recently the series has been invited to run exhibition races with the SCCA at both Barber Motorsport Park and Road Atlanta for the American Road Race of Champions.

The final race of the 2014 VIR Cup takes place next Saturday and Sunday – this will close out the 4th successful season for the Series. The racing action continues to get closer and closer…..with competition at all positions throughout the grid. Racers come from a broad background with different goals as they take to the track…..but the common theme is that they enjoy the performance and reliability of the Atom, in addition to the off track camaraderie. Currently there are close to 70 SRA cars delivered to clients across the country – if you are looking for a track car…have a look. Many SRA owners compete in the racing events as well as numerous HPDE events throughout the year.

Thank you to all the racers, sponsors, and helpers who have made Atom racing a reality. Look for the final championship results next week….and the 2015 schedule to be released shortly.
